There’s a lot of information and opinions out there about what size cushion pads is ideal for your cushion cover. Personally, I like both cover and pad the same size, but I always advise my clients the choice should be made according to personal preference.
Here’s my general guideline:
Soft Pillow – If you want your cushion to feel soft and sumptuous, pick a cushion pad the same size as your cover. This will give you that ‘karate chop’ look and allow the cushion to breath inside the cover.
Firmer Pillow – If you want more support from your cushion, I’d suggest buying your insert 2” larger than the pillow cover. This will plump out the cover and feel snug and supportive.
